PRIVACY POLICY FOR GEOOH GO

This privacy policy governs your use of the software application Geooh GO (“App”) that was created by Mobiltal, LLC for mobile devices. The App is used for the sport of geocaching and is not applicable for other uses. Mobiltal is dedicated to protecting your privacy.

Mobiltal is a 3rd party API partner of Groundspeak, Inc and is authorized to access their servers and data with their API.


1.  What information does the App obtain and how is it used?

A.  User Provided Information 

The App does not store any personal information you provide when you sign into your account at geocaching.com. Your login credentials are directly entered into the geocaching.com website, not the App and the password is never obtained or stored. However, your geocaching user name is retained on the device for subsequent running of the App and is passed to Groundspeak as part of their API requests.

B.  Automatically Collected Information 

In addition, the App may use certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, your location, the type of mobile device you use, your mobile devices unique device ID, the IP address of your mobile device, your mobile operating system, and information about the way you use the App including date and time. This information is used by Groundspeak when requesting their data regarding geocaches and your profile through their API and when posting data (such as logs) back to Groundspeak. Additionally, some of this information is used by Google for services such as location, navigation, usage analytics, and language translation.

C.  3rd Party Access to Information 

Except as provided above, we do not share or sell information that identifies you personally or makes it possible for other parties to contact you directly.


2.  Does the App collect precise real time location information of the device?

When you use the mobile application, we use GPS technology (or other similar technology) to determine your current location in order to display your location on a map and to show distances to geocaches. We will not share your current location with other users or partners other than to Groundspeak when using their API.

If you do not want us to use your location for the purposes set forth above, you should turn off the location services for the mobile application located in your account settings or in your mobile phone settings and/or within the mobile application. 


3.  What permissions does the App use?

A.  Internet 

The Internet is required to access Groundspeak and Google services.

B.  Network State 

The App will monitor the network state in order to determine whether API requests can be sent for services.

C.  Location 

Location information is used as described in section 2 above.

D.  Storage 

External storage on the device is used for geocache Field Notes, GPX files, images, and to store internal information.

E.  Camera 

The device’s camera is used to capture photos for logs and to scan travel bugs.


4.  Children

Our App is not intended for use by children, and we do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13.


5.  Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. We will notify you of any changes to our Privacy Policy by posting the new Privacy Policy here. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.


6.  Your consent

By using the App, you are consenting to our processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us. "Processing,” means using hand held device or using or touching information in any way, including, but not limited to, collecting, storing, deleting, using, combining and disclosing information.
